Have I been neglecting you all?

Do you feel the same...that I'm neglecting blogger land? I almost couldn't sleep last night thinking about it and you all.
It's not that I'm not doing things, because I am. It's just that with doing the projects and all the other things going on I'm having little time to write down my projects to share with you.

So here they are in all their glory...or not glory...whichever you decide they are :

After watching a tut on fabric rosettes, I made this cute little headband for my daughter who just loves to wear them retro. Not sure why but she's done it that way since she could put them on by herself...I think it adds to her personality and personal style.

Second I bought a Elmer's painter's marker from Michael's because that's what the lady told me would work on plates and such to create your designs to USE...she was wrong..the design turned out sweet but scrapes off easily if you use your nail...this my friends I do not recommend wasting the money on unless you NEVER plan on using it. This is a 2 outta 10 for me. BLAH

AND THERE'S MORE!

I love "The Hand Me Down House" blog...I swoon over her. On her blog recently she used Mod Podge to tint glass. She also had seen it on Gingerbread Snowflakes blog none the less pay it forward right?
I love the look of the old blue mason jars...so I made some. And the idea from GS to use them as tea light holders was sooo cute.
Then Amanda (from HMDH) took it one step further...which I also started to do...making SOLAR LIGHTS out of the jars...I know right? Soooo awesome.

You can click here to see hers and here are mine :

I started by doing my Mod Podge on the jars...a little streaky but for outside lights they are good enough...like anyone would notice anyways, well you do now but that's cause I told you right? RIGHT?

Then I sprayed the tops of the jars to give a little more finished look *finished because the solar lights I picked up were a little too small aswell* shhhhh! They have been resprayed since the photo with a second coat.

Then I bought black wire to make the arch for hanging them to the stakes with.

Put it all together and TADAA!

The solar lights I used were small enough for me to place the bottom clear piece in too...I thought this might help (if there was a leak) to stop the water from damaging the "blub". The clear plastic piece is placed in the jar on the right. Once I test them outside I will know which way I want to go.
I still have to get stakes for them to hang off but I plan on doing that sometime this week - Then I'll take a photo of them at night and use it as a starter photo for my next post!

Total Cost:

Craft wire: 0.00 took out of my jewellery stash
Jars: 0.00 Christmas gifts filled with jam last year
Mod Podge: 4.50 from Michaels with coupons! - which will get used for more than this project!
Solar Light: 4.00 for 2 from Giant Tiger
=
6.50/3.25 per light

It's True

Yes it is true I have been MIA last week and the better part of this week.

My holidays were shortened up a bit so I spent the remainder of those once holiday - days finishing up my tasking for The Shabby Chic Cottage - 10 tasks in 10 days Challenge. It was a struggle in it's own but I got it finished and a few other things along the way.

Then we headed "home" for the weekend to visit with family. Celebrated Canada Day and some other great events like a family reunion and a 25th Anniversary. We had a blast even though it was cut short.

So back to thrifting and crafting!

I did tell you I would show you the finished results of the bathroom but I've decided against that because with the floor not finished and tiled I just don't think the room looks complete...it looks almost mis mashed at this point. So I lied...yes I know....hold it against me if you will but if you don't I have something very fab to share with you - well a few things actually!

Starting with...............drum roll please......tappyity tap tap tappppppppp....

yeah yeah I know I'm a dork.

A 5 year old handmade cutesy bracelet for my daughter's friend who moved away after school (thank you military for making my daughter cry, you never fail) JK

Another pillow case dress...this one made for my daughter's friend Hannah for her 6th birthday...isn't it such a Hannah dress? ( You can also see the ivory tutu dress I am beginning aswell off to the side there tucked in behind and yes...I know that open outlet is dangerous...I fixed it once I took the photo and looked at it)

If you'd like to know out how to make one...it's simple enough...google "how to make a pillow case dress" or you tube it - which might I add is the BEST INVENTION EVER...aside from blogs

Another bracelet for no one really. I just decided to try it (and you can too - in a Deal or no Deal type voice hehe yes I know dork...you don't have to keep mentioning it...geeze) I read this tutorial @ Yellow BlackBird that showed me how. It was featured on one of my fav blogs Tatertots and Jello just before July 4th

And lastly but not least...this wonderful artwork made by my 5 year old for her uncle and his gal to hang in his house WAAAYYY across Canada.

I think it's super sweet. I seen something similar on Tumbler. The total project was from the dollar store and cost 2 whole dollars. However, the value.....priceless.

OK ALREADY!!!...stop calling me a dork.... I'm in a mood of dorkie-ness today

Gift For Teacher

End of school year is getting close and of course I have to get the teacher something for making my daughter's first year so wonderful. She really is an amazing teacher. I didn't want to get her one of those crummy teacher gifts that say #1 Teacher...sorry to all those who give them. I just feel as though they have a million and one of them sitting in the basement of their home just collecting dust because who really has enough room for years and years of gifts from every child they've ever taught? So I thought...why not get her something she can enjoy and look good with at the same time...nothing to make her chubby like chocolate, nothing to make her feel silly like a sweater with a crayon apple and chalk on it...but something anyone would love to receive, not teacher generic.

So here it is...the reveal

Cute Right?
Not bad for not doing this on a regular basis.
I think she'll love it, I always see her wearing these colors.
I've titled this piece, BEACH GLASS

Dressy Goodness..

I am SO proud of myself today!

I'm not an excellent sewer...but I found this idea on a "A Crafty Escape" and had to try it out.

Pillow Case Dresses...not just for anyone...but for children in Africa. I'm hoping to make a good dozen and if I complete that maybe some "britches" for the boys! If you want to help the cause, visit the blog I found these on to get more information. Please, feel free to let me know your thoughts on what I've been able to come up with.
